Prayer In the Square is a free Christian prayer rally in Time Square, Manhattan, New York City, which was first held on September 9, 2007. The purpose is to pray for the future of New York City and the United States. The event is displayed on the News Astrovision screen at One Times Square and is simulcast on several radio stations. There is also a live webcast at nycprayer.org.[1]

The first event was held on September 9, 2007, with about 10,000 people from 100 churches participating. It was organized by the Times Square Church.

The 2008 rally had over 15,000 people from 200 different denominations, and was again organized by the Times Square Church. [2]

On September 20, 2009 over 60,000 people participated in the third rally, which was again organized by the Times Square Church. According to pastor Carter Conlon there were people from 237 different denominations. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who helped the church cut through the red tape necessary to hold such an event, addressed the crowd. A 180-voice choir sang worship songs and the entire event was simulcast on the News Astrovision screen at One Times Square and on several radio stations.[3]

The fourth event on February 4, 2010 focused on prayer and support for victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. It was organized by radio station WLIB.
